Welcome to Graneta Limousins which is located
in the foothills of the Bunya Mountains.

The Gaffney Family have been strong competitors in both Prime and Hoof & Hook competitions winning numerous Championships with highlights being at RNA Brisbane when we won Prime Steer in 1998 and 2002, Led Steer 2005, Heavy Weight Led Steer 2006, Woolworths Carcase Competition and Best Meat Eating Quality Award 2008.

During this time we realised a steer which had Limousin genetics was a standout performer in these types of competitions due to their exceptional carcass characteristics, large eye muscle, even fat cover, thickness, muscle definition and high yielding capabilities.  This is why we chose to register our cows and become Limousin members.

Our aim is to produce cattle which have natural softness, are easy doing, have structural correctness and reproductive soundness, calving ease, good temperament, good depth of body as well as the ability to retain yield and enhance eating quality.

We currently run 60 registered females with a mixture of black and apricots plus a commercial herd.  Our foundation females were sourced from leading Limousin studs Waterloo, Kameruka, Karrus and more recently from Kensal, Timor, Kaludabah, Rosehill and Oakwood .  We now believe we have the right blend of quality females which will help us achieve our targets.  We require our females to be functional, good milkers and reproduce at the highest level.

The sires currently being used are “Timor Black Poll Whaler” and “Rosehill Z439 – Apricot horned” .  Both bulls have quiet temperaments, large framed, natural softness, easy doing and are performing well as they have already put their stamp on our herd.  In addition to this we run a small AI program.

Limousin Quality Assurrance

Graneta utilizes breedplan to assist in making important breeding decisions as well as participating in the Limousin Quality Assurance program .  With this in mind we are proud to ensure our cattle offered to beef producers, both commercial and seed stock, are guaranteed quality performance animals.
