OUR STORY

Graneta Angus started when we purchased 30 yearling heifers from Ardrossan Angus stud in 2010.  Since then, we purchased cows from: Kenny’s Creek; Glenock; Carabar; Millah Murrah and Premier Angus studs. With our Angus program we are striving to breed cattle to suit the tough Queensland conditions, smooth coated, good feet & legs, strong headed, are mobile to cover long distances and highly fertile.

 

Our cows are run mainly on buffel and panic pastures all year round with no supplement feeding.  We have no free loaders, meaning if they have no calf at weaning time then they are off to the meatworks.  All cows are A I’d then covering bulls are put in for 6 weeks.

 

 With an extensive ET and AI programs over the last few years we believe we can provide our clients an extensive range of top genetics from leading studs in Australia and USA to align with our breeding concept. 2023 should see 350 plus Angus calves born which will give us a good number of bull calves to select from for our sale.

  

All bull calves are weaned onto our best leucaena and pasture paddocks where they will winter on forage oats then back onto pasture with leucaena again, once the summer rains arrive.  Finally, they are finished on oats ready for sale day.. Graneta bulls are noted for longevity and being tough under the trying conditions that Queensland can throw at them.  This is why they last from Boulia in the North West to Serina in the North, to Glen Innis and Dubbo in the South.
